Apply powder to areas that are chafing. The powder will stop the friction which occurs which causes chafing. This will allow the areas to glide against each other easily, instead of rubbing. Powder will prevent the areas from getting moist, so when the two areas touch they won't chafe. You can purchase powder from your nearest pharmacy or supermarket.

Wear loose-fitting cotton clothing. Loose-fitting cotton clothing will allow the area to breathe. However, clothing that is too loose can cause added friction. Cotton fabric will allow moisture to evaporate. You can wear loose-fitting cotton pants, if the chafing is on your inner thighs or cotton shirts, if the chafing is on your upper body.

Use ointment on the areas where you are experiencing chafing. Ointments such as zinc oxide ointment and Vaseline will give the area enough lubrication to prevent further chafing. The ointment will also soften and heal the area.

Place bandages on any open wounds caused by chafing. Sometimes, when the areas are not being treatment quickly, blisters start to form. Placing a bandage will allow the skin to glide against each other and prevent additional chafing.
