How to Eliminate Candida Albicans

Candida albicans is the most common cause of yeast infections. Yeast infections are caused by an imbalance in the body's healthy bacteria, resulting in yeast overgrowth in warm, moist areas of the body, such as the mouth, skin folds and genitals. Symptoms include itching, pain and redness in affected areas. Your doctor can diagnose a yeast infection and recommend treatment options. You can safely treat most types of yeast infections at home, and clear up in about a week.

Instructions

    • 1

Schedule an appointment with your doctor, especially if you have never experienced yeast infection symptoms. Your doctor may order a prescription or over-the-counter antifungal cream (e.g., clotrimazole or miconazole) or an oral antifungal medication (e.g.. fluconazole).

    • 2

Wash the affected area daily with mild soap and water and dry thoroughly. Expose it to air, if possible.

    • 3

Keep affected areas as dry as possible. Wear loose-fitting clothing made from breathable materials, such as cotton, that keep moisture away from the skin. Change out of wet clothing as soon as possible.

    • 4

Apply topical treatments to clean, dry skin as directed by your doctor or the package instructions. Continue treatment for the entire time recommended by your doctor or the package instructions, to reduce the risk of recurrence.

    • 5

Consult your doctor if your symptoms do not improve with treatment or you develop any new symptoms. Tell your doctor what medications you are taking, especially antibiotics, and any medical conditions, such as diabetes or immune suppression. These may increase your risk for developing a yeast infection.
