How to Get a Medical Waiver for Eczema
Eczema, also called atopic dermatitis, is a skin condition characterized by swelling, itching and redness that commonly occurs on the face, neck, upper trunk, wrist, elbow folds and knee folds. Eczema is a chronic condition that generally appears during childhood. In a majority of individuals, the condition remits or becomes less severe during adulthood. If your eczema prevents you from completing certain tasks or participating in specific activities, visit your health care provider to obtain a medical excuse letter.Instructions

1
Make an appointment with your health care provider. It is best to see a doctor or nurse practitioner that is familiar with your eczema and can adequately explain the condition on your behalf such that you can obtain a waiver.

2
Gather the necessary information and paperwork that your doctor will need to complete the medical waiver or excuse letter. If your eczema is intermittently active, it may be helpful to take pictures of your skin during a period when the condition is active to demonstrate its severity.

Visit your doctor to explain why your eczema requires that you obtain a medical waiver. If you have a waiver form, give it to your doctor to be completed. Otherwise, request that your doctor send a letter to the agency for which you are applying for a medical waiver.
