How to Cure Sweaty Palms With Ionization

Excessively sweaty palms is a condition known as palmar hyperhidrosis. People who have this condition often avoid shaking hands, or other social interactions because their palms produce so much sweat, even when it is not warm or they are not feeling stressed. This condition is often quite embarrassing and can have many social implications for the affected person. Luckily there are some treatments which can help people who experience palmar hyperhidrosis. Iontophoresis is a treatment that conducts a mild electrical current through water that penetrates the skin's surface on the hands, blocking the sweat from emerging through the skin.

Instructions

    • 1

Hook up your Iontophoresis machine, following the manual instructions --- all units will vary, so be sure to follow the instructions carefully to set it up.

    • 2

Fill the trays of the machine with tap water and turn on the device, so that the electrical current flows through the water. Add a small amount of baking soda to the water, if your home produces soft water.

    • 3

Submerge your hands into the water for a period of 20 to 40 minutes.

    • 4

Continue using the Iontophoresis machine every other day for a five to ten day period. After this period, monitor the dryness of the hands throughout the day -- to see if dryness has been achieved. When dryness has been achieved, use the machine once every four weeks, to maintain.

    • 5

Monitor the effectiveness of the Iontophoresis machine during the entire process. If at any point you find that dryness is not being achieved, add prescription anticholinergic to the water to increase the effects.
