How to Exfoliate With Keflex

Keflex is an antibiotic drug that's prescribed for treating infections and bacteria in the body. Though most commonly prescribed for respiratory infections, Keflex can also be prescribed for skin conditions caused by an infection or by bacteria, such as acne. It's important that you talk to your doctor and that you get a complete evaluation before taking Keflex for exfoliation purposes, because it could interact with other drugs or cause allergic reactions based on your unique condition.

Get a prescription from your doctor. Your doctor will prescribe you Keflex in tablet, cream or liquid form, depending on your situation and which treatment he thinks will work best.

    • 2

Carefully read the directions and dosage for your Keflex. Liquid Keflex should be carefully shaken up and the exact amount added to a glass of water, before you drink it. Dissolving tablets should be stirred into a glass of water, drunk down immediately and then another glass should follow, just to make sure all of the dosage was taken. Regular, oral tablets need to be swallowed, and can be taken with any non-alcoholic beverage. Keflex creams should simply be smeared onto the area of skin according to the directions on the tube.

Take your Keflex as instructed in both method and number of times per day. Do not skip doses or take additional doses. Keflex is an antibiotic, but taking too much of it can still be dangerous and unhealthy. Before discontinuing your treatment, talk to your doctor to be sure that you don't need to keep the Keflex in your system in order to eliminate your skin condition.
