Facts on Areas of Hair Regrowth With Rogain

Rogaine is a vasodilator drug taken to regrow scalp hair. It may work by dilation of the scalp's blood vessels which would in turn stimulate hair growth due to improved hair follicle functioning. The exact mechanism that spurs hair regrowth by Rogaine's use is still unknown, according to drugs.com and pharmcom.com.
  1. Function

    • Rogaine is not meant to target all types of hair loss. It is designed specifically to regrow areas of hair loss or thinning from the top or vertex area of the scalp. It is not for treatment of frontal baldness or receding hairlines.

    Time Frame

    • It may take two to four months before Rogaine usage results in hair regrowth. If no regrowth is observed after four months you should consult a physician. Hair regrowth has not been tested beyond 48 weeks with continuous use with the 5-percent strength. If Rogaine use is stopped, the area of hair regrowth may be lost.

    Considerations

    • According to the manufacturer of Rogaine, the 2-percent solution was more effective at providing hair regrowth in studies conducted with mostly white men ages 18 to 49.
