How to Use Miconazole
Miconazole is an antifungal agent that is used to treat skin infections such as jock itch, athlete's foot and vaginal yeast infections. It can come in many forms, including sprays, creams, powders and spray liquids. For athlete's foot, miconazole is generally used twice a day for a month. For vaginal yeast infections, it is used once a day at bedtime for either three or seven consecutive days, depending on the treatment.Instructions

Treating a Vaginal Yeast Infection
-
1
Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water. Fill the included applicator to the level indicated by the directions. If using a suppository, place it on the applicator according to the instructions.
-
2
Recline back on the bed or floor with both knees bent and feet flat. This allows for easier insertion of the applicator.
-
3
Insert the applicator into the vagina slowly and as far as comfortably possible. Slowly push in the plunger on the applicator to dispense the product inside the vagina.
-
4
Remove the empty applicator and discard immediately. Wash your hands again thoroughly to prevent the spread of infection.
-
5
Wear a sanitary napkin through the night and throughout the course of your treatment to prevent staining your clothes from any discharge that may occur.
-
6
Go to sleep. Miconazole should be used right before bed so the medicine can be administered in a horizontal position. This prevents the treatment from discharging.
-
7
Avoid tampons, douches and sexual intercourse during treatment. A tampon may absorb the product, reducing its effectiveness.
