Laser Resurfacing Problems

Laser skin resurfacing is a procedure that may benefit someone with scars, age spots, uneven skin tone, hyperpigmentation (dark discoloration of the skin) and acne scars. Laser skin resurfacing, like any other procedure, does have risks.
  1. During Laser Resurfacing

    • During the laser skin resurfacing process, a patient may experience pain. The pain may be feel like stinging or burning in the affected area.

    After Laser Resurfacing

    • Recovery from laser skin resurfacing differs, depending on the type of resurfacing laser that is used. Redness, swelling and peeling are all common side effects during the healing process.

    Possible Complications

    • Some of the possible risks of laser skin therapy include hyperpigmentation, (rarely) hypopigmentation (lightening of patches of the skin), infections, milia (little white bumps), scarring and reappearance of cold sores may occur after laser skin resurfacing.
