Foods to Avoid If You Have Excema

Eczema is a skin condition that is characterized by areas of the skin becoming pink or red, as well as flaking and itching. Although there is a debate whether food allergies cause eczema, certain foods can make an eczema breakout worse. Identify these foods and avoid them during an eczema breakout.
  1. Dairy Foods

    • Dairy foods can exacerbate eczema, so you should avoid them when you are having an eczema breakout. Avoid common dairy foods such as ice cream, butter, milk, yogurt and cheese. You should also avoid eating foods that contain dairy as an ingredient, such as crackers, cookies, cakes and pies.

    Eggs

    • Eggs are known to cause allergic reactions in some people, and can make eczema rashes worse if eaten during a breakout. Avoid eating all kinds of eggs, no matter how they are prepared, and avoid eating products that list eggs as an ingredient.

    Wheat

    • Many people cannot eat wheat because it can cause an allergic histamine reaction in the body. People suffering from eczema should avoid wheat so that it does not make the eczema skin rashes worse. Do not consume wheat flour, either whole or refined, and avoid eating all products that contain wheat. These foods include wheat cereals, cookies, crackers, cakes, breads, pancakes and waffles.
