Natural Ways to Reduce Pore Size
Everyone has pores, but they appear larger on some people than others. The reasons behind pore enlargement tend to vary, but can include genetics, skin damage and incomplete cleansing routines. Taking good care of your skin can help reduce and reverse the occurrence of enlarged pores, but this does not mean you have to invest in costly, sometimes harsh, chemical cleansers. Instead, try some natural methods to reduce the size of your pores.-
Tomatoes and Cucumbers
-
Tomatoes and cucumbers are more than just tasty vegetables. Both contain astringent properties, meaning they help tighten the skin tissue, reducing pore size in the process. Smash up the flesh of either a tomato or cucumber using a fork and a plate or cutting board. The mashed product can be applied directly to your skin, or mixed with plain yogurt for a smoother texture. Apply it to clean, dry skin, and let it sit for 15 to 20 minutes. Wash the mixture off with a warm, wet washcloth. Repeat this process at least once a week, or more often if needed.
Steam
-
Steam can pull oil and dirt from your pores, helping them to appear smaller in size. If you don't have access to a sauna, you can steam your face at home without difficulty. Fill a large pot with water and bring it to a boil. Put a towel over your head and place your face over the pot. Do not get any closer to the heat than is comfortable for you, and be careful not to let the towel touch the surface of your stove. Stay in place for 10 minutes. Repeat this process at least two or three times each week.
Exfoliate
-
Regular exfoliation can help remove dirt and particles that can obstruct pores and make them appear larger in size. Use uncooked oatmeal as a natural exfoliate. Place a half a cup of oatmeal in a plastic sandwich bag and lay the bag on a hard, sturdy surface, such as a kitchen counter or table. Use a rolling pin to crush the oatmeal into smaller pieces and pour the oatmeal into a small bowl. Add a tablespoon of honey and mix it well. Gently rub the oatmeal and honey mixture onto your face, scrubbing in a circular motion. Rinse it well with cool water. Repeat this process as often as once a day, but at least twice each week.
