How to Cover Poikiloderma with Makeup
Developing a makeup routine to minimize the appearance of skin conditions can boost self-confidence. Poikiloderma is a chronic pigmentation disorder resulting from sun exposure. The condition is identified by red or brown markings which may seem irregular or mottled in appearance. Poikiloderma is most common among women and can often be seen on the cheeks or neck. Makeup to cover poikiloderma should contain sun protection to prevent further skin damage.Things You'll Need

1
Cleanse the face and neck with a gentle facial cleanser. Pat the skin dry and apply an even coat of oil-free moisturizer that contains SPF properties.
-
2
Dab the concealer brush into a small amount of concealer. A green-based concealer may be necessary to mask severe or dark red poikiloderma. Apply the concealer directly to areas affected by poikiloderma and any other areas of discoloration. Gently blend the concealer outwards from affected areas to soften the concealer lines.

3
Cover the face with a hypo-allergenic, cream foundation with a foundation brush. If the poikiloderma is on the neck and chest, cover any exposed skin. Use the brush to soften the edges of the foundation, particularly along the hairline, jaw or neck.
-
4
Brush a foundation powder over the top of the cream foundation. The powder is used to soften the appearance of the liquid foundation, preventing a mask-like appearance. Use small brush strokes to secure the foundation particles and ensure an even distribution.

5
Smile and optionally apply a blush or bronzing powder to the apples of the cheeks, using the blush brush to blend towards the ears. A light coat of blush or bronzing powder can restore a natural appearance to the face after the application of foundation.
