How to Use Liquid Nitrogen for the Face

Liquid nitrogen is an extraordinarily cold substance, more than negative 300 degrees Fahrenheit. However, while touching this substance would seem like the worst idea in the world, it is used to treat skin conditions like age spots and warts as an alternative to surgery and other methods that might be out of the question due to patient allergies. If you have a condition on the face that's being treated, it's very important you take all necessary precautions.

Instructions

    • 1

Clean the area where the liquid nitrogen will be applied. Cover the eyes and protect them so fumes don't cause any untold discomfort.

    • 2

Dip the tip of the applicator in the liquid nitrogen. It will be absorbed quickly, and you don't want to saturate the cotton. It's a powerful substance, and you only need to apply enough to kill the blemish.

    • 3

Roll the applicator head over the blemish. Do not maintain contact for more than 2 to 3 seconds, and then pull it away. For smaller blemishes a single treatment will be enough, for larger ones subsequent treatments will need to be used.
