What should you major in if want to become a dermatologist?

Pre-medical coursework is typically required for students who want to become dermatologists. This coursework includes classes in biology, chemistry, physics, and mathematics. Some schools also require students to take courses in English, psychology, and sociology.

After completing their pre-medical coursework, students must take the MCATs (Medical College Admissions Test). The MCATs are a standardized test that measures students' knowledge of science, math, and verbal reasoning. Students who score well on the MCATs are more likely to be accepted to medical school.

Once students are accepted to medical school, they will complete a four-year program. During medical school, students will take classes in anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and pathology. They will also complete clinical rotations in various medical specialties, including dermatology.

After completing medical school, students must complete a three-year residency in dermatology. During residency, students will receive hands-on training in the diagnosis and treatment of skin diseases. They will also learn how to perform skin surgeries and how to use lasers and other medical devices.

After completing their residency, students will be eligible to apply for certification by the American Board of Dermatology (ABD). ABD certification is a voluntary process, but it is considered to be an important credential for dermatologists.
