What are pimples made of?

1. Sebum:

- Sebum, a naturally produced oil, lubricates the skin and hair. When excess sebum is secreted, it can collect along with dead skin cells within pores, clogging them and forming pimples.

2. Dead skin cells:

- As the skin regenerates, dead skin cells are shed. When these cells accumulate on the skin's surface, they can block the pores and mix with sebum to create pimples.

3. Bacteria (Cutibacterium acnes):

- Cutibacterium acnes is a bacteria commonly found on the skin. While these bacteria are generally harmless, they can proliferate in clogged pores and feed on sebum, causing inflammation and pimples to develop.

4. White blood cells:

- When pimples occur, the body sends white blood cells to fight off the bacteria and initiate healing. The accumulation of white blood cells and other immune system cells contribute to the visible white or red appearance of pimples.
