Exfoliation Spa Treatments

Exfoliation removes dead cells from the skin, leaving fresh skin. The process allows skin cells to create a healthier glow by eliminating dry, flaky skin. Exfoliation treatments also help with treating acne and sun-damaged skin.
  1. Sea-salt Scrub

    • Sea-salt scrubs benefit the skin because they exfoliate and cleanse better than regular soap. Sea-salt scrubs thoroughly clean your pores by removing toxins from the skin, allowing your skin more oxygen. Sea salt strengthens and firms skin tissue when it's used as an exfoliate. When choosing a sea salt scrub, be sure the salt grains are not too large and avoid using salt crystals. The smaller grains will exfoliate the skin better than crystals.

    Microdermabrasion

    • Microdermabrasion is a less-aggressive approach than dermabrasion. Microdermabrasion gently sands away dead layers of skin, compared with dermabrasion, which scrapes the skin. Microdermabrasion is used to treat sun-damaged skin, wrinkles, acne, age spots, skin scarring, skin discoloration and even the appearance of stretchmarks. The process involves a sand blaster, which rubs the top layer of skin off your body, leaving a fresh look and encouraging skin growth. It also helps thicken your collagen, which will lead to younger-looking skin. The process is painless, and no topical or local anesthetic is necessary. There is no recovery needed for this process.

    Chemical Exfoliation

    • Chemical exfoliation treatments consist of gels, lotions or creams that are applied to freshly washed skin. The solution then works to remove the dead, damaged layers of the skin. The solution is applied to the skin and peeled off, revealing a new appearance. Chemical peels are most often applied to the face, neck, hands, back and shoulders. They are most often used to treat skin lines, wrinkles, age spots, acne and skin discoloration. As with any new layer of skin, it is recommended that a layer of sunscreen be applied to the skin after the exfoliation because new skin is more prone to sun damage.

    Enzyme Exfoliation

    • Enzyme exfoliation is used to treat sensitive skin and doesn't involve a vigorous process. This type of exfoliation often contains food such as pineapple, papaya or pumpkin. Enzyme exfoliates gently break down the bonds holding the dead cells together onto the skin, which forces the skin's natural exfoliation to begin working. Because enzyme exfoliates are natural, they work to strengthen the skin and rarely cause irritation.
