Painless Ways to Get Rid of Skin Tags
-
Salicylic Acid
-
Salicylic acid is a keratolytic or peeling agent, which causes the skin to shed its outer layer when applied. Apply salicylic acid directly to the skin tag, following instructions for use provided on the bottle as it comes in various preparations and concentrations. Check with you doctor prior to using salicylic acid if you have kidney or liver disease, diabetes or poor circulation. Salicylic acid should not be used on sensitive skin areas such as the face or groin.
Apple Cider Vinegar
-
Apple cider vinegar is used as a home remedy for many conditions, including skin tags. Begin by thoroughly washing the affected area with warm water and soap. Use a cotton ball doused in apple cider vinegar and gently dab it onto the skin tag. Leave the apple cider vinegar on the skin for approximately 15 minutes and then wash it off. Repeat this several times per day until the skin tag dries up and falls off.
Blood Root
-
Bloodroot is a black salve and is a natural treatment for multiple skin conditions. Bloodroot contains an orange-red latex, which oxidizes when exposed to the air, turning black or dark brown. Bloodroot is applied as a paste to the skin and is an effective treatment for removing skin tags. Do not leave this treatment on too long because it will also remove healthy skin, potentially leading to scarring.
Clear Nail Polish
-
Gently wash the affected area with warm water and soap, letting it air dry before you apply the nail polish. Apply a light coat of clear nail polish to your skin tag, twice a day. Continue to do this until the skin tag dries up and falls off. Do not use on more sensitive skin areas such as the face or groin.
Litigation
-
Use dental floss or another thin string to tie around the stem of the skin tag. This will cut off blood flow to the skin tag, causing it to eventually fall off. This method is usually effective after a few days. Skin tags may grow back using this method because the base is left intact.
