How to Get Rid of Irritation From Splinters
Splinters are foreign objects that become embedded in the skin. It is important to remove the splinter to allow the skin to heal, reducing the chance of infection. Remove the splinter with a pair of clean tweezers. There are several things that will ease the irritation that occurs, after the splinter has been removed.Things You'll Need
- Tweezers
- Gauze
- Mild hand soap
- Towel
- Adhesive bandage

Apply pressure to the area with gauze, until the bleeding stops.

Wash your hands and other affected skin, with mild soap and running water. Remove any obvious debris from the wound.

Dry the area thoroughly and apply a thin layer of antibiotic ointment over the wound.

Cover the area with an adhesive bandage. Check the area daily and watch for signs of infection; including continued redness, pain, swelling and drainage. See a health care professional, if these occur.
