  Talk to your doctor if you are pregnant or nursing or if you are planning a pregnancy, before using MetroGel. It is also important that you tell your doctor what other medications you are using -- both prescription and over-the-counter drugs -- as well as any allergies you have, before adding this medication to your regimen.

  Wash your hands and dry them before beginning. You will also need to wash your hands again after handling MetroGel.

  Cleanse your face before treating it with MetroGel. It is important to let your skin dry thoroughly, for about 15 minutes, before applying the medication.

  Place a small amount of MetroGel on your finger. Using your fingers, apply the medication to your face in a thin, even layer.

  Use other cosmetic preparations only after you have allowed the MetroGel to dry completely on your skin. Waiting approximately 5 minutes is a good rule of thumb.

  Apply this medication on a consistent, regular basis to obtain the best results. Following a regular schedule for use -- such as in the morning and before you go to bed -- may help you to avoid missing doses of MetroGel.
