How to Soothe a Sunburned Scalp
Prolonged exposure to the sun can cause burning and blistering of skin. Harmful UV rays produced by the sun can also result in premature aging, skin spots and skin cancer. Burns on the scalp can occur very easily if the skin is not protected with sunscreen. The scalp can burn in small areas, such as the part in the hairline or over large areas that do not contain thick hair. Soothing these painful burns is an important step in healing.Things You'll Need

1
Rinse your head and scalp under cool water. You may take a shower if it is not too painful. The water will cool down the heat that is trapped under your skin.
-
2
Gently massage a UV-healing, cleansing shampoo into your hair and scalp. Many brands are available at your local drugstore.
-
3
Rinse your hair and scalp completely. Any residue left behind can irritate your sensitive skin.
-
4
Apply antibiotic ointment to any open blisters. Proper care of open blisters will prevent infection. Closed blisters should be left alone to heal naturally.
-
5
Rub aloe gel over the entire area that is burned. The aloe will naturally moisturize to prevent cracking and peeling of the skin.
