1
Avoid exposure to the sun between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. According to CNN Health, that is when the sun's rays are strongest. If you must be out during that time, spend plenty of time in the shade and limit your exposure to direct sunlight.
-
2
Apply sunscreen to your scalp and other exposed skin before going outdoors. Make sure the sunscreen you use has a sun protection factor (SPF) of 30 or higher. Reapply your sunscreen throughout the day if you sweat or have been swimming.
-
3
Wear a wide-brimmed hat that protects the scalp from direct sunlight. If you choose to wear a baseball cap, be sure to add sunscreen to areas of your body that the hat doesn't cover, like your ears and neck.
