How to Unconscious Adult

1. Check for responsiveness: Shout "Are you okay?" and gently shake/tap the person. If they don't respond or are unresponsive to any stimuli, activate EMS or call 911.

2. Check for breathing and pulse: Look for normal breathing (if unresponsive), and check for a pulse in the neck for up to 10 seconds.

3. Start chest compressions (CPR) if unconscious and not breathing: Place heel of one hand on center of person's chest with your other hand over it. Interlock fingers and give chest compressions straight down 30 times at a rate of about 100-120/minute.

4. Give rescue breaths: Pinch the person's nose, cover their mouth with yours, and blow into their mouth to make the chest rise. Give 2 rescue breaths, each lasting about 1 second.

5. Continue CPR: Give 30 chest compressions followed by 2 rescue breaths until the person starts breathing, EMS/medical help arrives, or you're too exhausted to continue.

6. AED (if available): If an AED becomes available, follow its instructions to deliver an electric shock if advised by the AED. Continue CPR after a shock.

7. Recovery position (when breathing again): Turn the person onto their side with the top arm stretched forward. This helps keep their airway open and reduces the risk of choking.

Always keep in mind that the safety of the person administering first aid is a priority. If you feel unsafe, or the environment isn't safe to start CPR, stay clear, and wait for professional medical assistance.
