What are the most common idle problems with a 1996 Mirage?
* Idle air control valve (IACV): The IACV regulates the amount of air that bypasses the throttle valve when the engine is idling. If the IACV is faulty, it can cause the engine to idle too high or too low, or to stall.* Throttle position sensor (TPS): The TPS sends a signal to the engine control unit (ECU) indicating the position of the throttle valve. If the TPS is faulty, it can cause the engine to idle erratically or to stall.
* Fuel injectors: If one or more of the fuel injectors is clogged or faulty, it can cause the engine to idle roughly or to stall.
* Vacuum leaks: Vacuum leaks can cause the engine to idle too high or too low, or to stall.
* EGR valve: The EGR valve recirculates exhaust gases back into the engine to reduce emissions. If the EGR valve is faulty, it can cause the engine to idle erratically or to stall.
