How to Stop Body Rocking When Going to Sleep
Sleep compulsions are used by some people to cope with stress; they calm and sooth the person to sleep. Rocking the body to sleep is considered a common sleeping habit. It is not dangerous, but it could be embarrassing if the person is with company. The best way to overcome any bad habit is to replace it with a good one. Rockers should be mentally prepared and determined to conquer and change their sleeping routines.Things You'll Need

1
Stop listening to music while trying to sleep. Move your radio to another room. Most people with this habit rock to the music, therefore, by sleeping in complete silence you will not feel as tempted to rock yourself to sleep. If the silence is too much, replace your typical music with soothing sounds such as rain or the ocean. Play only sounds that are relaxing.

2
Stop daydreaming while you rock yourself. Instead of thinking about problems or fantasizing, keep your mind completely silent. Meditate for 20 minutes before sleeping. Find an affirmation that you could repeat every time a thought pops up. While you're in bed, start counting down from 100.

Lie flat on your back, without rocking, preferably on nights that you don't have to work the next day. When you want to move, think about the main reason for wanting to overcome this bad habit. When you feel the need to rock the body, just switch from lying on your back onto your side.
