Do you have to induce labor before a c-section while awake?

It is not necessary to induce labor before a cesarean section (C-section) while awake. In fact, it is preferrable to avoid induction of labor in this scenario as it can increase the risk of complications. C-sections while awake, also known as cesarean sections under regional anesthesia, are typically performed when the mother is conscious but has received a local anesthetic to numb the lower half of her body. If labor is induced, it can lead to increased uterine activity which may cause the uterus to contract irregularly and make it difficult for the doctor to perform the C-section safely. Therefore, it is generally preferred to perform a C-section while awake without inducing labor.
