Avoid drinking alcoholic beverages or taking sleeping pills shortly before going to sleep. These will cause your muscles to relax, constricting your airways and possibly resulting in snoring.

Inhale steam from a pot of boiling water or turn on a humidifier just beore going to sleep. Both these actions will reduce congestion and moisturize the throat, which will result in a better chance of a snore-free night.

Purchase nasal strips and apply them before going to sleep. Nasal strips will hold open the nostrils and allow more air through your nasal passages, possibly reducing snoring.

Elevate your head as you sleep. Use a thicker pillow or multiple pillows. This will allow air to pass through more easily and should reduce snoring.

Visit a doctor if the previous steps are ineffective or if snoring affects your ability to get a good night's sleep.
