How Can I Get My LCD Display to Work on My Remstar M Series?

Many people consider snoring to be a somewhat irritating but manageable annoyance. However, snoring can be an indication of sleep apnea, a serious condition that some experts believe, if left untreated, is the leading cause of lack of sleep among Americans. A person with sleep apnea experiences short pauses in breathing while sleeping. The pauses can last up to a few minutes and breathing is restored with a snorting or snoring sound. Luckily, there are several products available to consumers with sleep apnea that can respond to lapses in breathing and assist the sleeper in maintaining a normal breathing pattern while asleep. If you plan to use a device from the Remstar M Series, it is a good idea to learn how to troubleshoot any simple problems you may encounter when using it, such as an LCD display that does not work.

Reset the Remstar's AC power cable by unplugging it either from the AC connection on the device itself or from the electrical outlet. Leave the cord unplugged for up to 30 seconds and plug it back in. Power on the Remstar again and check to see if the LCD display is now lighting up properly.

Unplug the device again and relocate it in an area where there are fewer electronic devices near it. Electromagnetic interference from devices like cell phones, televisions, remote controls and many other kinds of consumer electronics devices can cause the LCD to display erratically or not to display at all. Obviously, the device will need to be near your bed when you sleep, but for temporary testing purposes, move the Remstar to another outlet that is away from any possible electromagnetic interference and see if the LCD displays normally.

Contact Philips customer service if the LCD display is still not behaving normally. At this point, the most likely explanation is that the LCD screen has gone out and will need to be replaced by the manufacturer. Even if you find another means of replacing the LCD screen, it is still wise to contact Philips because the device may be under warranty, in which case you would not have to pay out of pocket for the repair.
