How to Adjust a Goodnight 420/425 Series CPAP Machine

Most adjustments made to the Goodknight 420/425 series CPAP machines are done by Puritan Bennet, the manufacturer of the machine. It sets the machine to the settings prescribed in your doctor's order and can only change them if the doctor changes the order. You do have the ability to change the initial deliver level to make it easier to fall asleep with less pressure and noise. This is a quick and simple process, and the pressure will increase in increments over time until your prescribed level is reached.

Instructions

    • 1

Plug in and turn on the CPAP machine. This process works best if completed just before going to sleep, while you are in bed.

    • 2

Press the "Information Access" button on the unit repeatedly until the screen shows the starting ramp pressure. It will display two directional arrows, one pointing up and one pointing down. A "P" will also be displayed along with a triangle with the top pointed to the bottom right.

    • 3

Turn the pressure down by pressing the "Ramp" key or up by pressing the "ON/OFF" key. Continue to adjust the level until it is comfortable for you to fall asleep. Press the "Information Access" button again when you find the level that works best for you.

    • 4

Press the "Ramp" button to start the ramping process. This can be done when going to bed or if you wake in the middle of the night. It will move the pressure to your desired starting level.
