How to Adjust a Remstar Auto CPAP Machine
Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) devices help sleep apnea patients breathe easier by pressurizing the soft palate so it does not collapse during sleep. ResMed Auto is a line of self-adjusting CPAP devices, the most recent of which is the S9 AutoSet. Its AutoSet algorithm continually adjusts to the patient's breathing rate and depth to ensure optimal therapy pressure. The S9 AutoSet also monitors ambient humidity in real time so that it can maintain ideal humidification at the mask. The device features a high-resolution color display that makes it easy to adjust user settings and check important data.Things You'll Need

Adjust the ramp time by turning the push dial until you see the RAMP screen, and press the push dial to highlight the current setting. When the CPAP is ramping, it drops to a low output pressure and gradually increases it to your full prescribed pressure, giving you time to fall asleep before you get full pressure. Ramp time is the number of minutes the machine takes to reach full pressure. Turn the push dial to set the ramp time, from OFF to 45 minutes. Press the push dial to accept the setting.

If the screen shows a green smiley face, your mask is fitted properly. If it displays a red frowney face, tighten your head gear to get a better seal around your face or nose. When you have properly adjusted the mask, the face turns green. Press the push dial to exit the MASK FIT screen.
