1
Purchase a do-it-yourself anti-snore mouthpiece, which you can usually find at most drug stores. Try a homemade mouthpiece before investing in a more expensive one from your dentist.
-
2
Boil two cups of water for 10 minutes on medium heat, then pour the water into a bowl and let it sit for two to three minutes until it is warm. Put your mouthpiece in the water for 30 seconds, or longer depending on the instructions that accompany the specific brand.
-
3
Remove the mouthpiece from the water and bite onto it with your lower jaw pushed forward slightly. Press your tongue into the bottom of the mouthpiece as you bite down and hold it in the bite position for 60 seconds or longer depending on the brand. Remove gently and place in cold water for five minutes to ensure that the mouthpiece fully hardens.
-
4
Wear the mouthpiece for a couple of nights to see if it makes an improvement or stops your snoring altogether. If you see an improvement, but continue to snore, make an appointment with your dentist to get fitted with a professional mouthpiece. You might need to adjust your mouth position in a different way. Your dentist can help you determine this.
