How to Sleep in a Chair With a Blanket

Getting a good night's sleep is easy to do when you are comfortable and relaxed in your own bed. Instructions

    • 1

Pick the chair that you will sleep in and the blanket you will sleep with. It is also helpful to use a footstool and a pillow to add to your comfort. Put your blanket, chair, footstool and pillow in a room where there isn't any noise that could disrupt your sleep.

Light aromatherapy candles and take a warm bath. The smell of the aromatherapy will help you to relax, as you get ready to sleep in the chair with a blanket. Put on comfortable pajamas when you have finished taking a bath.

    • 3

Blow out the candles and turn the temperature in the room that you will sleep in to 65 degrees Fahrenheit or to a temperature that makes you comfortable. A cool, well-ventilated room allows you to sleep comfortably.

    • 4

Turn on the radio to play a CD of soothing soft sounds. This helps to relax your mind and body to sleep comfortably. Alternatively, you can insert your earplugs to eliminate any noise that would disturb your sleep in the chair.

    • 5

Turn off the lights and electronics, such as the television and computer, to prepare your body to rest, and draw the curtains so it is dark in the room. Bright lights can interrupt sleep and when it is dark, your biological clock triggers a hormone called melatonin in your body, which makes you feel sleepy.

Sit down in the chair, and prop your feet up on the foot stool. Put your pillow behind your head, and put your eye mask on. Take your blanket and pull it up to your shoulders to get relaxed and ready to fall asleep with your arms by your sides.

Take deep slow breaths and envision a calm and soothing place, such as the beach, to relax your body and sleep.
