How to Become a Late Riser
There are many benefits to waking early but it is not a convenient habit for everyone. If you are used to waking up early in the morning but need to start waking up at a later time, then it is necessary to train your body to change to a sleeping schedule that allows this. You can attain this goal in a few days with consistency and adequate preparation.Instructions

1
Examine your responsibilities to determine what adjustments you can make to accommodate waking up at a later time. For instance, set up an automated feeder to provide for your fish in the mornings while you sleep, and use automated sprinklers for your lawn or water it in the evenings.
-
2
Determine a new bedtime based on how much sleep you are used to receiving daily and how late you wish to wake up. For instance, if you sleep for eight hours every day and wish to start waking up at noon, your new bedtime is 4 a.m.
-
3
Prepare your room to assist in the transition to a later wake time. For instance, cover the windows with blackout curtains or shades to block out the sunlight. Remove or turn off anything that could wake you up, such as alarm clocks or other electronics programmed to turn on automatically.
-
4
Stay up until your new bedtime. Taking a nap during the day could interfere with your ability to fall asleep at the newly scheduled time.
-
5
Go to bed at the new bedtime. Make sure the curtains are drawn. Use earplugs if you anticipate any noise from other members of the household that might disturb your sleep.
-
6
Retire at your new bedtime for a couple of nights to train your body to adapt to the new schedule. According to counselors at Kansas State University, sleeping later than usual for just two days can reset your body clock.
