Step-by-Step Instructions on How to Walk With Crutches
Crutches are instruments that allow you to remain somewhat mobile, even if you've injured a foot or a leg. The crutches act as a replacement leg, of sorts -- meaning that each time you take a step, your weight is either on your good foot or on the crutches, as opposed to your injured foot. You can learn how to walk using crutches by following a few steps.Instructions

1
Adjust the length of the crutches so they reach from the floor to an inch or two below your armpits.
-
2
Place your weight on your good foot or leg and place the top of each crutch (called the crutch pad) under each armpit. The bottoms of the crutches should be six inches in front of your feet and a few inches off to your sides.
-
3
Grab each hand grip securely.
-
4
Move the feet of the crutches and place them a bit further out in front of you.
-
5
Push yourself forward using your good foot and take a step, using the crutches for support. Your good foot should land past the crutches.
-
6
Walk by repeating Steps 4 and 5.
