Cascade Toboggan Specifications

The toboggan is an invention of the Indians who lived in Canada. Which tribe invented it is up for debate; however, the toboggan's practicality and ease of use has ensured its continued existence throughout the world. Cascade Toboggan, a company based in Washington State, modified the design of the original wooden toboggan to create a durable rescue tool for the extreme environments of the ski mountains and the backcountry in winter.
  1. Material

    • The Cascade toboggan comes in two models: the one piece and two piece. Either is constructed of stainless steel or titanium.

    Weight

    • The professional one-piece stainless steel toboggan weighs 31 pounds, while the two-piece toboggan weighs 34 pounds. The professional one-piece and two-piece titanium toboggans weigh considerably less: 18 pounds and 19.5 pounds respectively.

    Dimensions

    • The Cascade toboggan is 83 inches long, 6.25 inches tall and 25 inches wide at the front end and 12 inches at its foot.

    Features

    • All the Cascade toboggans come with a low-profile, interlaced tube frame, a top rail that measure 3/4 inch in diameter, four points located both inside and outside the toboggan at which you can attach lines for load lifting, a mesh liner made of HDPE and a built-in backboard. The toboggans also come with four restraint straps with QuickTAB fasteners.

    Optional Additions

    • If you wish, you can add features to the Cascade toboggans. Features include an upgraded professional mesh liner, a CMC litter shield, a litter wheel located on the front of the toboggan, a pad stretcher as well as straps that are 1 inch or 1.5 inches wide.
