1
Stop performing activities that further irritate your elbow. Although this may be challenging in some circumstances, limiting the use of your arm will allow the inflammation to go down and the elbow can heal.
-
2
Take ibuprofen or a similar painkiller to alleviate temporary pain from tennis elbow. Although a painkiller will not eliminate the problems caused by tennis elbow, it will make the discomfort easier to bear.
-
3
Massage the elbow regularly to relieve tension within it and alleviate pain. Begin doing strengthening exercises once the pain has lessened to help prevent re-injury.
-
4
Apply an ice pack several times each day to reduce inflammation and reduce the pain caused by tennis elbow.
-
5
Talk to your doctor about a surgery such as a corticosteroid injection if the pain persists despite steps taken to prevent it. Although a corticosteroid injection is not a long-term solution to tennis elbow, it can quickly reduce the inflammation of your elbow.
