How to Put on a DeRoyal Elastic Knee Brace

Knee braces are important to those suffering from slight knee injuries. Keeping a knee brace, such as a DeRoyal elastic knee brace, around the knee gives it support without limiting flexibility. However, if the brace is not on properly, more injury can be done to the knee.

Instructions

    • 1

Make sure the brace is right-side up. On the sides of the knee brace there are knee hinges that say "DeRoyal" on them. Lay the knee brace down. If the "DeRoyal" lettering can be read right-side up, then the area of the brace facing up is the part that wraps around the kneecap.

    • 2

Pull the knee brace up. Lift it up so it comfortably sits on the knee and the kneecap hole fits securely around the kneecap.

    • 3

Ensure the knee hinges are correctly aligned with the sides of each knee.

    • 4

Tighten or loosen the Velcro straps at the top of the front of the knee brace, as well as on the back of the bottom of the knee brace. Strap them on so that the brace fits tightly, yet comfortably. If the brace is too tight, circulation can be lost. If the brace is too lose, it will slide around and could damage the knee further.

Walk around to make sure the brace is not too loose and falling off, or too tight and restricting mobility. Readjust the Velcro if necessary. Once the brace is on securely, continue any activity as normal.
