• You can get snowball crepitation if Achilles tendonitis goes on too long or is left untreated. Stretch and apply ice to alleviate this condition. You will also need to consult a medical professional to set up an effective treatment plan.

Achilles Tendon Tear Treatment

• Consult with a doctor for an Achilles tendon tear. You will need either surgery or a cast that keeps the foot extended with toes pointing down. According to Anybody's Sports Medicine Book, there are no successful home treatments for this condition.

Alternative Treatments

• For those suffering from Achilles tendonitis, acupuncture, massage, physical therapy and warm water therapy may be helpful. Also, rest from strenuous activities and proper footwear can speed up recovery.
