How to Use Prolotherapy
-
1
Discuss your injury with a physician and determine if prolotherapy may provide healing and pain-relief benefits in your particular case.
-
2
Anticipate an average of four to six prolotherapy injections and visits to the doctor; more treatments may be indicated, depending on the severity of the injury.
-
3
Prepare for some pain and discomfort when receiving injections, as the needle is inserted deep into the tissue.
-
4
Expect follow up pain, usually a stinging or mild burning sensation, as the dextrose solution irritates the damaged tissue, triggering the body's healing mechanisms.
-
5
Follow the physician's directions for rehabilitation during treatment and don't overdo any training. Give your body a chance to heal.
