Cures for Plantar Faciitis
Plantar fasciitis is a condition that is sometimes associated with heel spurs. A tendon called the plantar fascia runs from the heel up the bottom of the foot toward the toes. When it gets inflamed from repetitive running and jumping motions, it can cause plantar fasciitis. There are several different cures for it.-
Rest
-
Keeping weight off the affected foot is one strategy to cure fasciitis. In this case, crutches can also be used.
Shots
-
Injections can be administered to the affected area with a substance called cortisone.
Splints
-
Splints can be worn to bed that go around the calf muscle and the foot that keep the plantar fascia in a stretched position.
Orthotics
-
Special orthotics can be made and placed into the shoes. A plaster mold is made of the foot and an orthotic is then designed and placed into a shoe.
Stretches
-
Stretches and exercises can also be done to cure plantar fasciitis. Some of these include foam rolling, wall arch stretches and towel stretches.
Surgery
-
In the most extreme of situations, a surgical procedure is done to remove the plantar fascia from the foot.
