Treatments for Knee Pain
-
Immobility
-
One of the most common ways to treat knee pain is rest. When the knee is immobile, it can help it to heal faster.
Ice
-
Ice is used to treat knee pain that has just occurred. It helps to keep down swelling and inflammation.
Stretching
-
After rehabbing from knee surgery, the ligaments and tendons get tight, which can lead to pain. To alleviate this pain, the knee can be stretched in a slow and controlled fashion. This is usually done in physical therapy.
NSAIDS
-
Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatories are over-the-counter medications used to treat knee pain. Some examples of these are aspirin, naproxen and ibuprofen.
Wrap
-
Another way to treat knee pain is to protect it. Knee braces and knee wraps can be applied to limit the range of motion and protect it from getting hit.
