1
Make a sling from your triangular bandage. Put the 90 percent angle of the triangle under your elbow; cross the ends behind your neck.
-
2
Tie the ends behind your neck. Make sure your wrist is slightly higher than your elbow. A square knot usually works best.
-
3
Tie the excess fabric behind your elbow into a knot. This will keep your elbow in place and prevent your arm from falling out of the sling.
-
4
Place a shirt between your body and your arm. Usually a dislocated shoulder causes your elbow to be about 6 inches away from your body.
-
5
Wrap an ace wrap around your chest. Include the sling above your arm in the wrap. This will bind your sling to your body preventing movement.
