1
Warm up at least thirty minutes before a training session or game. Warming up helps to increase blood flow to the muscles and can prevent injuries while playing football.
-
2
Stretch properly before and after a training session. Each stretch should be held for 30 seconds, and the stretching should be 10 to 15 minutes of your warm up session every day.
-
3
Cool down properly after a rough training session or game of football. It is just as important to let your muscles cool down after strenuous activity as it is to warm them up. Walk slowly around the field for 10 to 15 minutes before hitting the showers.

4
Get a deep tissue massage at least once a week. This helps to rid the muscles of toxins and waste that can become a hazard for torn ligaments and muscles. Ask your masseuse to pay close attention to any area that seems tender or bothersome.
-
5
Wear the right protective gear to prevent common football injuries. Make sure all of your equipment is the right size and fits well.
-
6
Drink lots of water and get the proper nutrition. You need to get plenty of carbs and protein to build and protect your muscles and ligaments. Drinking two to three times the daily amount of water is also a good idea, as when involved in strenuous exercise, the body needs to be replenished every 10 to 20 minutes.

Sleep at least eight hours every night to allow your muscles to rebuild properly. Not getting enough sleep can increase your potential for muscular injury during your next game.
