Is it normal to get bruises along with shingles?

Bruises, or ecchymosis, are not considered a typical symptom of shingles. Shingles is a viral infection that causes a painful, blistering rash. The virus that causes shingles is the same virus that causes chickenpox. After a person has had chickenpox, the virus can remain dormant in the body and reactivate years later to cause shingles.

Shingles typically causes symptoms such as:

* Pain, burning, or tingling sensations on one side of the body

* A red, blistering rash that appears in a band-like pattern

* Fever

* Chills

* Headache

* Fatigue

Bruising is not a common symptom of shingles, but it can occur in some cases. If you are experiencing bruising along with shingles, it is important to see a doctor to rule out any other underlying medical conditions that may be causing the bruising.
