Instructions for ProCare Universal Knee Support
The ProCare Universal Knee Wrap is a functional type of brace. Functional braces are used when someone has experienced a minor injury to the knee that requires temporary support and stabilization. The ProCare Knee Wrap is available with adjustable hinges and flexion and extension stops. The hinges offer protection for the ACL and PCL ligaments, while the stops stabilize the knee joint by controlling range of motion.Instructions

Apply the brace making sure the the hinge or bend is positioned at the knee with the bend. Any opening should be positioned either in the front or back, depending on the particular brace. Some braces have an opening that is meant to be worn with it over the kneecap, others with the opening behind the knee. It is necessary to position the brace correctly. ProCare makes a brace that comes with hinges for injuries requiring extra support and braces without hinges that cover the knee completely and strap in the back.

2
Position the straps around the leg securely but not so tight as to cut off circulation to the leg. Shifting of the ProCare brace is common when walking or moving about so check it frequently and readjust to the correct position.

3
Clean your brace as needed. According to The Brace Shop, the ProCare Universal Knee Wrap is made of neoprene, a rubber product, and can be hand washed with mild soap and water, then air dried. The brace must be completely dry before putting it back on the leg or the skin may become irritated and the brace stretched. Worn or stretched out braces are not effective.

4
Check your knee and skin. Occasionally, people wearing a knee brace experience swelling of the knee; discuss this with your doctor. The skin under the brace can become irritated if the brace is a poor fit, loose and rubbing the skin, or is not worn correctly.
