Typical Symptoms of a Mini Stroke?
Mini-strokes, also known as transient ischemic attacks (TIAs), are temporary interruptions of blood flow to the brain. Symptoms are similar to those of a major stroke, but they typically resolve within a few minutes or hours.
Signs and symptoms of a mini-stroke may include:
- Sudden weakness or numbness on one side of the body. This may affect your arm, leg, or face.
- Sudden difficulty speaking or understanding speech. You may slur your words or have difficulty understanding what others are saying.
- Sudden vision problems. You may have trouble seeing in one or both eyes, or you may see double.
- Lightheadedness or dizziness. You may feel like you are about to faint.
- Sudden confusion. You may have difficulty thinking clearly or making decisions.
- Sudden severe headache that is unlike any previous headaches.
If you experience any of these symptoms, it is important to seek medical attention immediately. Mini-strokes are a warning sign that you are at risk for a major stroke, so it is important to get evaluated and treated as soon as possible.
