Signs of a Mild Stroke

A mild stroke takes place when a blood vessel becomes temporarily blocked. A mild stroke is generally called a transient ischemic attack (TIA). This type of stroke lasts only a few minutes and has less serious symptoms.
  1. Transient Ischemic Attack

    • A transient ischemic attack (TIA) is sometimes called a mini-stroke and only produces temporary symptoms. Having a TIA puts one at greater risk of having a major stroke.

    Weakness and Numbness

    • When a person is experiencing a TIA, he may suddenly have numbness or weakness on one side of the body. This typically lasts for just a few minutes.

    Speech Difficulties

    • During a TIA, you may have speech difficulties such as slurring or inability to express thoughts clearly.

    Dizziness

    • In addition, a person experiencing a TIA may feel dizzy.

    Complications

    • Although a transient ischemic attack is a type of stroke, it does not cause any permanent damage because the blockage does not last long enough to damage any brain cells.
