1
Help investigate the options available for rehabilitation to see what is best for the victim. Making such a choice can be taxing. Choose a rehabilitation that has these options: the center serves the patients needs, has certified staff, utilizes family help in the physical recovery of the stroke victim, includes family members in the entire recovery process, it's affordable, has a solid reputation with the community and has available transportation.

2
Spend time with the victim by talking, relaxing and entertaining. Play games with them. Volunteer for educative seminars on the nature of strokes and how to help.
-
3
Volunteer for any rehabilitation sessions that are available, and work with the victim on what you both learned in these sessions. Make sure the patient is practicing these skills.
-
4
Research the staff of the center to make sure they fit the patient's unique needs. Encourage your patient and/or loved one after they make progress.

5
Take care of yourself, because this is a stressful situation for you, too. Make connections with support groups for emotional stability. Strokes and other medical ailments drastically change the routines of you and your loved one's lives, and the victim may not be able to do the things they use to.
