How to Learn to Walk With Foot Drop
Many people who have central nervous system disorders suffer from foot drop. The impulse to lift the front of the foot doesn't reach the nerves, which results in an awkward, stiff gait. Those who have this condition can still walk, but it takes some practice and getting used to. There are also prosthetics on the market that are meant to help people walk smoothly.Things You'll Need

1
Attach your neuro-muscular electrical stimulation system (NESS) prosthetic to your leg. It is made up of a sole that sits against your heel and a brace on the knee that allows you to control the electronic stimulation. This device sends impulses to your foot, allowing it to overcome the effects of foot drop.

2
Activate the prosthetic. Simply turn on the NESS and put it on the level that you feel comfortable with. Walk with the NESS activated.
-
3
Adjust the electrical output on the prosthetic as you need to. If you begin to grow tired you may need more stimulation to help you walk normally. Don't be afraid to alter the device based on your needs at the time.
