How to Treat Adrenal Fatigue & Thyroid Problems
Adrenal fatigue and thyroid problems occur due to your body's inability to properly produce hormones, according to "The Thyroid Sourcebook for Women." Hypothyroidism is a condition that is caused by your body's chemical imbalance of thyroxine, a hormone produced by your thyroid gland. Adrenal fatigue, also known as Addison's disease, is caused by your adrenal glands under-producing glucocorticoids and mineralocorticoids, according to the Mayo Clinic. Both of these conditions cause fatigue, muscle weakness, depression and muscle pain. Both conditions require prescription medication to replace hormones, according to "The Thyroid Sourcebook for Women."Instructions

1
Visit your physician. She can determine whether your fatigue is Addison's disease, hypothyroidism or another medical condition that produces similar symptoms. If it is determined that you have either condition through blood tests, your doctor will put you on replacement hormone therapy.

2
Take medication as directed. Addison's disease uses hydrocortisone, prednisone or cortisone acetate to replace deficient hormones. Hypothyroidism requires prescription synthetic hormones, and these should be taken according to your doctor's directions to reduce fatigue and other symptoms.

3
Increase your fiber intake. Hypothyroidism causes your body's functioning to slow down, which means you'll need to eat healthy to reduce symptoms such as fatigue, constipation and bloating. Fiber can be found in vegetables, whole-wheat grains, beans and fruit.
