Signs of Low Thyroid Problems
Low thyroid or hypothyroidism is a condition in which the thyroid gland does not function properly to produce the right amount of hormones. Some risk factors include being over age 30 and having a family history of thyroid problems or auto-immune diseases. Symptoms include fertility problems, weakness, lethargy or exhaustion, frequent cold sensations, loss of memory, frequent mood swings, frequent constipation, weight gain or loss and muscle and joint pain.-
Body Temperature
-
If you often feel cold, there is a chance you are suffering from a low thyroid condition. Dr. William Nelson says "the effects of low thyroid can be devastating because for every one degree decrease in body temperature the base metabolic rate decreases by approximately six percent."
Fatigue
-
A number of different medical issues can cause you to feel fatigued, including hypothyroidism. Because hypothyroidism lowers the rate at which your metabolism functions, you feel tired or lethargic.
Hormone Issues
-
Your thyroid produces and regulates hormones, so side effects of a low thyroid include a wide variety of hormone-related problems. Symptoms are moodiness, depression, anxiety, nervousness, excessive hair growth and general emotional instability.
