General Side Effects

Gastrointestinal Effects

• Exemestane can cause abdominal pain, diarrhea, vomiting and constipation and nausea, which can affect the ability to eat.

Nervous System Effects

• Exemestane can affect the nervous system. Side effects of this drug on the nervous system can include headaches, insomnia and depression that interferes with day-to-day activities.

Respiratory Effects

• This drug can also produce respiratory infection, dyspnea, rhinitis, bronchitis and sinusitis.

Critical Side Effects

• Exemestane can occasionally cause an allergic reaction, which could produce symptoms such as hives, rash, swelling of the mouth or face, shortness of breath and severe stomach pain. If a person exhibits these symptoms, she should go immediately to the emergency department of the closest hospital.
